Welcome

All the cute and the precious have been found. All the kitties and puppies have homes. The candy colored, the eco-friendly, the hipsters of the handmade are all duly covered elsewhere. Here I will find the slightly odd, the darkly beautiful, the elegant and steamy pieces of goodness. I am very particular in my tastes and though I promise you that I will share nothing but the most intriguing of my discoveries, you may not always like them. I must also confess that I have no real artistic nor fashion background to base my finds upon. These are simply discoveries dug up from the depths of etsy or perhaps elsewhere, brushed off and presented for your approval.

Black & Brass

And Bruised All Over
1. After shave flask for travellers - brass - blindspotjewellery
2. The Off Switch - savagesalvage
3. Steampunk solid brass monogoggle with leather eyepatch - ErihMann
4. Manly Oil Spill Stein - krystallin
I'm gonna stop shirt of calling this one for the gentleman. I think everything here is perfectly unisex. Big, bold and aggressive, sure, but definitely not just for the guys. Like I know that the flask says it's for aftershave, but I want it...well just because I do.

Antlers

Not Where You Would Expect Them1. Black deer skull antler fascinator with cherry blossoms hat - chaosdoll
2. A Deer Girl Print - thepoppytree
3. Cervidaemorphous - vorpal
4. Altered Deer Antler Necklace....Ivory - NinaRamone
I must confess, this post is completely inspired by the chaosdoll piece. I didn't even know she had a shop until this morning or I imagine antlers would have made a much earlier appearance. Now usually little deer antlers adorn the kitschy or cute, but even the little deer girl here has something a bit off about her that I find compelling. Ah, what a way to get noticed.

One Step At A Time

Down The Winding Staircase1. The House of Curves (Colour) - elgarbo
2. The Grinning Steps - TheLonelyPixel
3. ABSTRACT ARCHITECTURE - photopia
4. TAKE THE STAIRS - sunnydayrain
There is something magical about a picture of a staircase. It's like an invitation to adventure. What is up the stairs? What lies below them? Is there a door to another world or is the adventure simply in the imagining.

Lipson Robotics

You Missed The Robots Right?
1. Weston 273 - Assemblage Robot Sculpture
2. Soul Crush 1 - Assemblage Robot Sculpture
3. Rectifier 1 - Assemblage Robot Sculpture
4. Ms Ford - Assemblage Robot Sculpture

All pieces by LipsonRobotics
www.lipsonrobotics.com
I've been fashion heavy lately. I submit my apology in the form of robots. I often hate on assemblage folks, this is because far too many people are doing it wrong. They are boring and predictable...they are not awesome. I submit that the hands behind these assemblage pieces is doing it right. I am so glad there are artists like this along with a few choice others out there reminding me that sometimes putting crap together with other crap does equal awesome.

Isn't That Dandy

...Or Manly, Whichever
1. Captain Manly's Military Coat - AtticRaiders
2. Steampunk Spare Pockets - techdragon
3. Leather Work Apron - CyclonaDesigns
4. Delmane Ascot - HeirApparentHandSewn
It stuck me as I was searching for a theme that I have been neglecting the fashionable males. So here we have some fashion for the steampunk man, be he dandy or manly...and if you think wearing spare pockets over your kilt isn't manly, well I submit that it takes quite a man indeed.

More Amazing Silver Rings1. Peeping Tom Ring - whitemetal
2. Ruins Ring - TheGoldenPlague
3. Black House - sculptural cocktail ring - BigHelmetHead
4. Rotating Kinetic Ring - JonathanLeoBrown
I'm sure you get this by now...I love silver rings especially big, crazy, artistic rings. Ones that will get you noticed before you even open your mouths. Rings that can be your only piece of jewelry and get the job done. Too bad I only have 10 fingers.

2. Guardian Neck Corset - TheSageArts
3. Cult Hoody Bolero - jaredgold
4. The Black Textured Velvet Everan Skirt - Felinus
A quick look inside the mind of the Wunderkammer: Ooh, that looks cool...wait I like this one better...no this one. Have I seen this before? No, that one is shiny. What the hell was my theme for today again? Crap, well this is the theme now...what should I call it? Cool stuff? No. I know,
Ooh, Aah!

Plumtastic

Why Yes, I Am Just Making Up Words Now1. Unisex Rubber Industrial Wrap Bracelet/Choker - Plum - RockLove
2. Aubergine Cuff - choklit
3. Royal Purple Victorian Modern wool Cardigan Coat - attiladesign
4. LIFE IN RENAISSANCE A LA LUCREZIA - eclettica
I don't like a lot of color. I stick to blacks and grays with the occasional nod to brown. The one color I love to wear though is purple, deep plums particularly. Lucky for me my hair is that color so I never have to be very far from plum. If you're not similarly tressed here's a few striking purple choices.

Safe As Houses

Be They Victorian Or Doll1. Victorian Doll House Birch plywood Laser Cut Kit 2 - VictorianDollhouse
2. Doll House - chrisy22
3. Dooley Mansion - 11x14 - Infrared Photograph - SherriConley
4. Historic Babcock House Fine Art Photograph - thejdawg
If I only had the time, the precious time to put together that Victorian dollhouse. Oh well, it will likely never be, but that is what the Wunderkammer is for. I may find and share all those lovely little things that shall never live at my house. Speaking of my house, I should love to live in one of these as well.

Catch All

A Little Of This, A Little Of That
1. Pewter Dress in Silk Taffeta - ozzana
2. Carapace Ring - Stainless Steel - improbablecog
3. Dusk - Stoneware Spiky Vase - jadeflower
4. After Traffic - oceanlilystudio
All these pieces wanted to be in other Wunderkammer features, but the color or picture shape wasn't quite right. I'm all about the collection as a whole, but soon I realized that these orphaned pieces made a wonderful collection together. Can I have one of each please?

Brown Coats

Yes, I'm Aware, There Are No Coats1. Teasdale - Lastwear
2. Brown Floral Ruffly Wrap Pants - weaseltree
3. 2 in 1 Stonewashed Rusty Brown Skirt or Pants - beyondclothing
4. Organic BUSTIER Chest-Halter Top S-L - alterecoclothing
The title here of course refers to the short lived Firefly series and how wonderfully these pieces would fit in that future world. It might be considered a space western, but I don't think I've met a Steampunker yet that didn't enjoy it. I miss Firefly, but at least the Wunderkammer lets me pretend I live there for a bit.

Spine

How's This For Having A Little Backbone?1. Steampunk Anatomy - MarbleCityGlassworks
2. Skeletie. Standard or narrow width black microfiber necktie - toybreaker
3. The Spine Spoon Wooden Sculptural Spoon - Spoontaneous
4. Human Spine Screen Print Hand-Colored with Walnut Ink - SweetRuination
Blame this one on that first sculpture there. I saw it and spent what seems like forever searching for pieces to fit the theme that would allow me to display it properly. Not that the other pieces aren't worthy of praise. Also, I wouldn't try picking up that spoon if I were you. Nothing says let's just get take out like a utensil with thorns.

1. Venice carnival at night - TheEmeraldDragon
2. Resolve - WoebegoneArt
3. Circus Photograph Surreal Blind Leading the Blind - themorbidthemerrier
4. spontaneous revolution - ellemoss
So how about a little surreal art for a Wednesday? A little bit circus, a smidgen of carnival and just a dash of sanity lost. Yeah, that's just about right.

1. Oilslick short fingerless gloves in latex like finishing - PlastikWrap
2. Riva - Leather Gloves with Rivets and Chain - ashesandempires
3. Mosaic Latex Gloves - collectivechaos
4. Perforated Leather Side Zip Fingerless Gloves - laurenshari13
Sure, they don't seem like they're keeping your extremities all that warm, but I don't think that's the point here, is it? These are accessories to make a statement subtle or grand. I think they might also inspire a just a little envy.

It Sound Like Bugs

I Hate Bugs1. Stormswarm Insect - liquidsolution
2. geared cicada - RaSaDa
3. Stinger Brooch - DivineIguana
4. Crypto-Entomology - The Locksmith Beetle - Indigolights
Well, clearly I do not actually hate bugs, I did however watch The Mummy recently, so there's that explanation. I am always amazed at the artistic depiction of insects particularly those with steampunk leanings. The are ridiculously complicated little creatures and yet we seem imagine that we could build them better. We are foolish, creative, but foolish.

Black Celebration

We've Seen The Back Of Another Year
1. Excarnate Mask
2. A Lovecraft Retrospective art book
3. Horned Skull
4. Watcher
All pieces by mrsoles
I love...Lovecraft and when I first spied this shop I spent far too long trying to pick the right piece and feature for the Wunderkammer. Finally I just decided to give it a whole feature to itself. The pieces are clearly meticulously created, disturbing and oddly beautiful. Sure it might seem a macabre way to start the new year, but that's how we roll around here, that is how we roll.
