Welcome

All the cute and the precious have been found. All the kitties and puppies have homes. The candy colored, the eco-friendly, the hipsters of the handmade are all duly covered elsewhere. Here I will find the slightly odd, the darkly beautiful, the elegant and steamy pieces of goodness. I am very particular in my tastes and though I promise you that I will share nothing but the most intriguing of my discoveries, you may not always like them. I must also confess that I have no real artistic nor fashion background to base my finds upon. These are simply discoveries dug up from the depths of etsy or perhaps elsewhere, brushed off and presented for your approval.

A Call To Arms

Attention all Wunderkammer friends. The time has come to give back. You all possess the necessary skills, the impeccable taste, the unquantifiable understanding to find treasures worthy of the Wunderkammer.

So, my friends begin your hunt, find what can be found and leave your links here by Sunday to be featured on Monday. The theme for the day is "Recovered". Any piece found on etsy, or other handmade marketplace that fits this theme may be submitted. Please, my gentle readers, do not submit your own work, though it may be perfect. I want the things you covet.

Should this grand experiment succeed there shall be many more opportunities for your discoveries to be highlighted on these pages. I thank you and the Wunderkammer thanks you for your time. Let the treasures be unearthed.

2. Black Off the shoulder bubble dress - bunnymassacre
3. Scent of a Ruby ROSE Leather Pencil Skirt - attiladesign
4. Best fit custom steel boned tightlacing bonded corset - BoundByObsession
I'm a black and purple gal myself, but the striking match of deep red and black is amazing to behold, when properly done of course. A few of these have been kicking around in my favorites waiting for their feature for quite some time. I hope they leave you wanting more.

The Art Of Steam

More Gorgeous Steampunk Inspired Creations1. Daphne's Undertaking - ravenmimura
2. Steampunk Elephant - Richtersketches
3. No. 7 Concept sketch print - EricFreitas
4. Steampunk Wizard of Oz no. 1- JustinGerard
I actually felt like I was finding treasure this go around. After sifting through pages of creations that ought not be labeled art, don't get me started, I found gold. I was going to say that my fav was the Wizard of Oz piece, but, I love that elephant and ooh Daphe looks uber cool and I covet an Eric Freitas clock like you wouldn't believe. So, I guess I can't actually pick a favorite. Can you?

Round And Round Reminding
1. Relic Ring With Garnet - paintedmetal
2. Unearthed Relic Ring - DownToTheWireDesigns
3. Delay - Design22Titanium
4. Relic Ware Ring - alleymaranto
You might have noticed that today seems the same theme as yesterday. Well, while searching for those pieces I kept finding delicious rings, but I didn't want to find rings...yesterday. So, today, I feature those relics worn on your fingers. Ones that seem to be from that same future past that we imagined before.

Relic

From Times And Places, Past and Future
1. Steampunk Skeletal desk lamp - WillRockwell
2. Relics of the machine age -The Radiosonic - sculpturebygreg
3. Unicorn Horn in a jar - GimmCat
4. Steampunk Aether Refractor Lamp Airship Relic - RiverOtterWidget

From memories, real and imagined come the relics. Each evokes a memory, one hidden so deep, it seems almost unreal, a dream really. This is where unicorns are real, airships float in the red dusky sky and time is lost in the the mazes of then.

Ruffles

Ruffles Everywhere1. In deep of the night - silkandmore
2. Ruffled Waist Purse - Kinies
3. Super Ruffles Skirt in Black - skycreation
4. Avant Garde Marionette Inspired Black Silk Party Dress - louiseblack
I love ruffles. No, I won't apologize for that. My favorite shirts are loaded with them. However, I like my ruffles to be folds of darkness. Deep and mysterious are my ruffles, not bright and sunny. I like my decadence dark.

Out Of The Darkness

And Into The Light1. Twisted - sculptedlight
2. 8 point non-typical, eclectic porcelain light fixture - davidsmithceramics
3. Black Fire - SilverSlate
4. Ceramic Sphere Lights - ECeramics
These are really 'wow' pieces. They will start conversation, set the mood and well, they are generally awesome. What better way to bring in the light when the dark is covering the land.

No Bones About It

2. Gothic Victorian Baby Tooth 14K necklace - lovedtodeath
3. Silver Jaw Bone - andyshouse
4. Boneflower Ring in Sterling Silver - ClockworkCrow
Yes, I know these aren't all real bones, but they're still awesomely disturbing. I am particularly fond of the metal bird skeleton. Well, I also thing having a real human tooth around your neck is strangely interesting. In fact, I think I've got some wisdom teeth around here somewhere and the kids are bound to lose those baby teeth one day and I'll need to do something with them, right?

Faces

Beautiful And Frightening1. The Brief Glimpse - schin
2. The Demon Mask - couturemasquerade
3. Nell - doctormorose
4. Regal Ruse - auniakahn
But which is which really? Personally, I think it would be wiser to fear the beautiful face. All smiles and coyness. You know something is not right there. The ones that give a fright are at least being honest and up front right?

Skeleton Bones

2. Mr. Boney Man, Sterling Silver Skeleton Ring - GotToHandItToYou
3. Portrait of Our Dearly Departed - Corviid
4. A Ghastly Halloween - antiqued skeleton pendant necklace - GhostShip
One thing that bugs me about Halloween, not only does everyone want to do the theme once a year, they add a degree of cuteness that I do not dig. Sure cute filled with a bit of irony is delicious, but plain cute, not so much. It was, then harder than you might think to find me some skeleton jewelry that was actually a little disturbing and interesting rather than, again, cute.

Living In A Vacuum

But certainly not isolated1. RETRO Stereo Tube Amplifier - wynnemrabbits
2. Fickle Machinery - liquidsolution
3. CyberSaw Clock w/ laser etched CD dial - OverClocked
4. Vacuum Tubes - kochansky
Sure, the tubes are no longer doing their intended job, but they can live on. I'm not sure that that clock is safe or if the robots will invade, but they sure are neat to look at!

After The Rain

4. Gothic Lolita Steampunk Earrings - LondonsGate
And that rainbow should be dark and jewel toned. It should mix it's colors with the darkness of the storm before to create powerful and gorgeous hues. Though I would be lying if I said it was easy to find multicolored beauties that fit my aesthetic. I have gathered some of the few in hopes that they will bring us out of our storm.

See, You Feel Better Already, Right?1. Wooden Medicine Bottles - porkchopshow
2. Antique Pharmacy Label Pendant - aminyitray
3. Henrard Bros. Apothecary - WinonaCookie
4. Dr. McGroartys Travelling Medicine Show-Lights up - InMyBlueRoom
Yeah, me neither. I'm a bit under the weather and I'm glad to note that I can find inspiration for this space even in my illness. Sure, these charlatans aren't going to make me healthy any time soon, but they sure are neat to look at...or am I just delirious?

Skirting The Issue

Long, Black, Unforgettable1. Black Steam Punk High Waist Black Skirt - PinarEris
2. Caterpillar Couture Circle Skirt - Mantragora
3. Silky Black Wrap Circle Skirt with Pleats - squeakdesigns
4. Golden Memories Steampunk inspired waist corset skirt Small - SistersOfTheMoon
I Do so love a dramatic skirt. Sure, most of us can't really wear these to the market, but just imagine the looks you'd get if you did. But honestly they just have great sculptural designs that made them stand out among a sea of underwhelming black skirts.

Wisdom

2. Metal Bird Framed Print - lolley
3. Owl Boy - TheLastCircus
4. GLASSY EYED OWL - jewelsvine
Ever since I saw The Clash Of The Titans, owls and clockwork have gone together. Of course they don't need to be made of gears to be perfectly steampunk. Good thing because my favorites were those devoid of generic stampings and watch bits.

Parasol

...Or Gothasol
1. Yuki Small Print - tofughost
2. Brown and Black Parasol Steampunk EGL Lolita OOAK - dbvictoria
3. Urban Neovictorian - exoskeletoncabaret
4. Couture - UntamedMenagerie
Yeah, I totally stole that word from Goths In Hot Weather...don't tell 'kay. As the summer turns to winter (we don't get fall here) I started thinking about those clouds over head. Yes, I know gothasols are for protecting ones delicate flesh from the daystar (also stolen from GIHW), but I'm a traditionalist and my hair dye runs if it gets too wet...I'm just sayin'.

2. The Reaper 13 x 19 print - cumanaillustration
3. Divine Design III - Graphic Original - Mantis Architectural Print - Canace
4. Mantis - CustomCopper
I love me a mantid. I stumbled upon the great reaper print the other day and decided that it was time for another feature for my predatory friend. I wasn't surprised to find these great and fairly steamy interpretations of the mantis floating around. Enjoy!

2. Casket Tag Bracelet -- Vintage Wells Fargo Human Body Tag - bramblethorn
3. St. James Infirmary New Orleans Jazz Funeral Poster - VictorianLowbrow
4. Beyond the Eternal Sea Irish Graveyard photo - gloriadelossantos
Is it wrong that this whole theme was developed around the casket tag bracelet? Yep, this entire selection of surreal and morbid pieces all because of that one item. I seriously need one of those.

3. Aged Halloween spider jewelry box or chest - ravenofskys
4. Black Widow Leather mask - TomBanwell
You well know by now that everyday is Halloween around here. This is no special theme gearing up for the holiday, just another Wunderkammer find. Creeping spiders of unique creation. Steamy, Gothy eight legged temptations.

2. Womens Zombie Killer tshirt - TinCanClothing
3. Zombie Clown Rag Doll - TatteredRags
4. The Midnight Carnival - Gothic Fine Art Photography Print - Jenkiabaphotography
Guess what movie I saw this weekend? Yeah and silly me already did a zombie theme last week, so you get a brief homage to the movie with a little less blood. I'd explain all the elements here, but I don't want to spoil the fun...I'm just sad I couldn't find a proper twinkie.
