All the cute and the precious have been found. All the kitties and puppies have homes. The candy colored, the eco-friendly, the hipsters of the handmade are all duly covered elsewhere. Here I will find the slightly odd, the darkly beautiful, the elegant and steamy pieces of goodness. I am very particular in my tastes and though I promise you that I will share nothing but the most intriguing of my discoveries, you may not always like them. I must also confess that I have no real artistic nor fashion background to base my finds upon. These are simply discoveries dug up from the depths of etsy or perhaps elsewhere, brushed off and presented for your approval.

Fairy Tales

Dark and Delightful1. Red Riding Hood - synchronicity313
2. Behind Locked Doors - philippesarts
3. Missing Substance - Babayagada
4. Dead Teddy Bear Picnic Giclee - ettadiem
I remember the first time I read a real fairy tale. It did not have the happiest of endings, but a deep and real message of warning. It was dark and frightening and I haven't stopped reading them since. These pieces show those same dark images that ignite the imagination.

The Shapes Of Nature1. Air-Shell ring - popovdesign
2. Organic Ring - OnTheBead
3. Coral Reef Pendant - nettiekent
4. Hankie Necklace - axelhoney
Hours of wax, fire and melted silver to bring us back to something that looks organic and made by nature. Of course we are nature too, so I suppose it all makes some sort of sense. Personally, I just like the way these pieces look, rough and smooth at the same time and very bold.

Oh, The Wonder And Majesty Of Books1. Stacked and Sorted - tanjatiziana
2. Library - rogerjporter
3. On the Top Shelf - industrialfairytale
4. The Royal Fairy Library - missquitecontrary
Is there anything more enchanting that an old library full of mysterious tomes. The explorer has but to open one to find any adventure they chose. Certainly, having the adventure yourself is an option, but really this is were all explorers start.

2. Ice, Frost and Cold - Winter Dress - SteamMachine
3. Party All Night Long - glamarita
4. Madmadam Sexy Secretary Dress - genevievedietz

Make Your Own

Deep Sea Wunderkammer1. Pattern for Squid in Love (No. 9)
2. Pattern for Cuttlefish
3. Pattern for Red Coral
4. Pattern for Jellyfish (No. 65)
All pieces by jpolka
I was looking to feature more fabulous wunderkammers, then I thought I'd look for pieces to make your own, then I ran across these patterns. I had seen them before of course, but I though, why not give you the tools to really make your own...if you can crochet of course. If not, I'm sure you can bribe someone else to make them for you, because they are all spectacularly awesome.

Heart Stopping

2. Cascadian Frost - liquidsolution
3. Gunmetal Silver Heart - heronadornment
4. Science Fiction Valve Necklace - insectus
Apparently, statement necklaces are all the rage and have been for a while. So it occurred to me, that the Wunderkammer needed some. The Wunderkammer makes a different kind of statement than most people though so we needed some big statements. I think I found some.

My Robot Friends

Are Here to Help...Wait, Enslave, Maybe...They're Here Anyway1. Found Object Robot Sculpture Number 61 - yllas
2. After a Hard Day's Work - industrialfairytale
3. Teabob - Found object robot sculpture assemblage - Adoptabot
4. I have a Special Plan for this World - ettadiem
How interesting it is that something that is inherently void of emotion should inspire so many emotions form us. Fear, adoration, curiosity. I don't know anyone who doesn't feel something about robots. Maybe you find them cute or want to understand how they might work or perhaps you are just scared of the day that they will rise up against us...it's coming my friends, it is coming.

Caw, Caw

Said The Baby Crow
1. Woodland Raven Chick - eva42
2. Baby Raven among the forget-me-nots - tanyabond
3. The Great Escape - thelittlefox
4. Birdie in The Bell Jar - TheWallflowerCompany
Personally, I prefer the raven. Of course the difference is merely in size, but still. I saw a few actual bird heads and I thought about including them, but I fear they were killed, not naturally expired, so I decided to opt for created instead.

3. Walnut Coachman Style Top Hat - Edweirdian

4. Contemporary Seahorse Silk and Leatherette Cushion - CarlaJDesigns
It's been a spell since I went under the sea. I spied that amazing See Horse and I was off on a hunt for other pieces to join it here. These are seahorses with a little bit of an edge.

2. Out Of The Shadows - Blacklotusclothing
3. BEE on Time Steampunk Necklace - MadArtJewelry
4. The Black Rabbit of Inle - Re-Painted Print - robbridges
I decided that rather than ask for conscious help finding treasures I would just stalk you on twitter. Yes, that's right I'm watching and waiting until you tweet just the right link, then I pounce. These beauties have been collected during the last week or so, who knows what you'll accidentally let slip into my grasp next.

2. Alchemy Soap - Amandalouise
3. Gypsy Caravan Soap Bar - scodioli
4. Dragons Blood Spa Gift Set - solsticescents
I don't normally featured the bath items here since it's awful hard to judge their worth based on a simple picture. That being said, until I am awesome enough that people start sending me free samples, I shall judge these items worth on a simple picture...and I deem them worthy, at least the picture of them anyway. Who say steampunk and goth has to stop at the bathroom door? I say sprinkle your oddness wherever you can.

2. Smoke Wing Cicada Ring - LuraJewelry
3. Blue Diamond Sea Fan Ring - OctopusMe
4. Arrow Ring - jewelscurnow
I won't lie, the last couple of days have been devoted to house cleaning. Or more precisely, favorite cleaning. There are so many pieces I have collected for a wunderkammer feature that I just haven't found the right companions for. Well, I found some to round out this feature of odd things as rings. Odd and wonderful though, odd and wonderful.

2. minkus timus pin and hairclip - cricketquills
3. Hammered Beauty - Copper Journal Necklace - EKCreations

Of course pretty is in the eye of the beholder, but these pieces seem to lie together in a wonderful way. Dark, a little dirty and certainly mysterious.

3. Big Sterling Silver Skull Ring 6 Size 10.5 - DementionDesigns

I couldn't decide whether my gentleman should be more goth or steamy, so I settled on a fine mix of manly accessories for either.

2. Black Taffeta Halter Neck Dress - decadentdesignz
3. Skeleton Keys Hand painted Clutch - littleblackdress
4. Rhinestone Bow and Feather Cocktail Hat - topsyturvydesign
I was asked quite recently by a friend if there wasn't something in their shop that might warrant a feature on the wunderkammer. I searched and I found something that merely needed the proper theme to fit right in. So here is that theme. A dark, fancy, magnificent black tie affair. Enjoy.

Don't Look Now, There's A Monkey On Your Back1. Wicked - olivehuedesigns
2. The Refined Henchman - chetart
3. Gorilla print - berkleyillustration
4. Capuchin - JVanHulle
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Steampunk monkeys? Yeah, well I do. I love them a lot. Know what else I love? Steampunk adaptions of favorite classic books. What's even better though are Steampunk adaptions of books that feature monkeys. Oh, today is such a win.

2. Copper and Paprika Sewing Machine key necklace - Cinderbox
3. Mechanically Reclaimed - Partially Reconstituted, A Steampunk Pendant - Beardiebloke
4. Fathom Necklace in Sterling and Brass - ClockworkCrow
I imagine that all grand experiments end with results not exactly as expected and so went this one as well. Certainly it found some interesting finds to display here, but it did nothing to reduce my personal work load. Ah, well. Please enjoy these pieces found by my gentle readers and feel free to share pieces as you find them and perhaps they shall too end up, well...found.
