A year ago I had an idea to do my own finds blog. I wasn't sure I had an audience. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find enough pieces to keep going, but here we are one year later and I'm still at it. To celebrate, I featured the exact same sellers today that I featured in my first post, Steam Heat. The blog went though an amazing redesign, Thanks Sarah and has over 375 followers now. Finding traditional steampunk imagery is always difficult for me. I generally have to wade though pages of the uninspired before I find those rare gems that actually speak to me. Sure, I may be pickier than most, or perhaps it's better to just say I have very particular tastes.

Oh, there are so many punks that I love, cyber, steam, diesel and the rest of the family. They are all one, big, expanding circle of off center. Which brings me to the cyberpunk, that future loving sci-fi craziness gave birth to all the punks that came after, giving them the excuse and the right to see the future or past anyway they saw fit.

No one ever asks me why I feature anything, so I'm not going to bother telling you why I picked anatomical hearts today. I will say that I think I found some interesting depictions amongst a sea of same old things. These ought to be grand conversation starters don't you think?

There are those who would assign a strict definition to steampunk, allowing for little interpretation. I am however not one of them. I think one of the best things about this movement is its flexibility to go beyond the definitions and recreate itself at random. Sure, I still believe that there is a distinct feeling to the genre that must be respected, but then the only limitation is your imagination.

Black and gray or shades of brown, there is just something about the texture of these pieces. They feel both romantic and rugged, a throwback and a look forward. Yep, just a perfect little touch of steampunk.
