Honestly, I'm a silver gal myself, but I do like the look of a nice antiqued brass. I know lots of folk love the look too, so here you are. It was hard to avoid the standard brass stampings, but I gave it a go. I know, one of these is, but it was so much more creative than the standard pieces that it caught my attention anyway.

I know! The phrase "brass ring" comes from an old custom in carnival carousels. At the edge of the carousel there used to be a hook with a set of rings on it. Riders could try to grab one off the hook as they went past. While most of the rings were tin or iron, one in the group was brass. The rider who got the brass ring could redeem it for a free ride.

They used to have those at the Santa Cruz Beack Boardwalk when I was a kid - loved grabbing for those brass rings!
